The Adventure's of D'Agoe
My Name Is D’Agoe - Quest 1
Every name is worth learning.
Everyone has trouble saying D’Agoe’s name.
“Day-go?”
“Duh-go?”
“Da-go?”
D’Agoe doesn’t mind. Every name takes a little practice, every name is worth learning, and every name has a story.
My Name Is D’Agoe is a heartfelt LitRPG-inspired picture book about names, family, individuality, and belonging.
Meet D’Agoe
D’Agoe is an energetic black Miniature Schnauzer with an unusual name and a very important quest:
Help everyone learn how to say it—and discover the story behind it.
Long before D’Agoe was born, a little boy named Garrett fell in love with San Diego. Years later, when Garrett met the lively puppy who would become his greatest adventure companion, he knew exactly what to name him.
As D’Agoe completes his quest, young readers encounter player profiles, skills, achievements, rewards, and progression—all woven into a warm story about the care we show when we take the time to learn someone’s name.
The Story Behind the Story
D’Agoe was a real dog with a real—and frequently mispronounced—name.
He was named by my son, Garrett, whose childhood love of San Diego eventually inspired the name D’Agoe. He became an unforgettable part of our family and brought adventure, personality, and a little bit of chaos everywhere he went.
This story preserves the beginning of D’Agoe and Garrett’s journey while sharing something I have seen repeatedly during nearly twenty years in elementary classrooms: names matter.
Learning someone’s name—and making the effort to say it correctly—is a small but powerful act of respect, kindness, and belonging.
